"We got a free kick and Justi (Yamada-Baumgardt), who is excellent with free kicks, fed a great pass into the box," Patterson, who is originally from Puyallup, said. "We all ran for it, and it was a mumbo jumbo mess, but I was able to get my head on it."

Patterson's goal, the Sounders' only score, came in the 47th minute and served as the equalizer to Highlander's goal, which was scored in the 38th minute by Highlander midfielder Jackie Harrison.

Despite putting eight shots on goal to Victoria's three, the Sounders were unable to muster another goal, as the match ended in a 1-1 tie. With the tie, Seattle's record moved them to 4-5-3, which seats them fifth in their Western Conference.

"I thought overall we did a good job, especially keeping possession of the ball," Patterson said. "At half our coach talked about keeping pressure on Victoria's third of the field, and I think we did that. We fought hard, but it would have been nice to put some of our scoring chances away."

The stands at Orca Field were packed as fans from Whatcom County gathered to watch the fleetest footed women in the Northwest. The Sounders, a member of the United Soccer Leagues' W-League, are in the second-tier of women's professional soccer in the U.S.

All the Sounders' home games have been played at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, but for the second to last game of the regular season, Bellingham Sounders fans got to see their favorite players close up.

"I think it's a great idea to have soccer games all over Washington," Patterson said. "I thought the fans here were awesome, and they're so close to the field. I hope it's something we can do again in the future.

The Seattle Sounders Women play their final game of the season Sunday, July 17, at Stadium High School in Tacoma, where they will meet the Colorado Force.
