The Bellarmine Prep (Wash.) High School product has been essential to the Huskies’ unprecedented 8-0 start, registering 40 saves and allowing only four goals. Her 0.49 goals against average thus far ranks atop the UW record book for single-season goalkeeping. She already ranks second among all-time Huskies with seven career shutouts.
Rasmussen notched two shutouts last week as she also blanked Portland State by a 2-0 count on Friday.
Sunday’s win marked UW’s first shutout in 18 all-time meetings with Portland. The win, UW’s third this season over a top-10 team, was only the second in the series against the Pilots.
Rasmussen rejected a point-blank shot by All-American forward Christine Sinclair in the 39th minute to maintain her fourth shutout of the season.
Washington’s No. 4 ranking is the second-highest in school history, behind only the No. 2 listing during the 2000 season.
This is Rasmussen’s first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and Washington’s 14th such weekly honor all-time.
